Mr & Mrs La Carta
How did you support each other during the stress of wedding planning, and what did you learn about your relationship in the process?
Keiarna: Planning a wedding can get overwhelming, especially on a 3 month time crunch! I definitely had some late nights researching and compiling vision boards haha. Carter was amazing at keeping me grounded, as always he is a voice of reason and could help me see the bigger picture when I’d get tunnel vision. It really showed me how much of a team we are.
Carter: Wedding planning was definitely a learning curve, but Keiarna's creativity and enthusiasm was enduring and infectious. Planning this wedding came at the back of renovating our house to sell, raising two little boys and planning a move overseas so we’ve really established a great dynamic to achieve our visions that are led by the same values.
How did you both go writing your vows?
Keiarna: Writing our vows was such a special experience and harder than I thought at first. We gave each other space for individual reflection and chose to surprise each other on the day with our meaningful words. Our celebrant was really useful in the process and he vetted each person's vows before the ceremony to make sure that we were meeting each other with equal energy.
Carter: We both wanted our vows to be heartfelt and genuine. Keiarna's creativity really shone through, while mine focused on expressing my unwavering commitment - everyone knew Keiarna’s was better on the day haha. It was, however, a beautiful reminder of why we were standing there.
Can you describe the feeling when you first saw each other on your wedding day?
Keiarna: When I first saw Carter, he had his back to me, then I saw him turn around and his face lit up and he gave me a “woo” which was pure joy (and relief) for me to see. He also looked very handsome and I felt very proud to be joining him.
Carter: The moment I saw Keiarna walking down the aisle, it took my breath away. She looked absolutely stunning. I had no idea what dress she was wearing, so that was a big surprise too. It was really beautiful to see her finally walking to me as we were about to tie the knot
Can you share a moment from your wedding day where you felt especially connected to each other?
Keiarna: We took some time before our first dance to connect and take a breather from everyone. It felt like the world stopped, and it was just the two of us, completely connected and filled with love.
Carter: Sitting up at the bridal table with no more commitments to anyone. We were able to sit in our bubble and soak in the feelings of the day together
Can you describe the feeling when you first got your photos/videos back from your day?
Getting our photos and videos back was like reliving the best day ever! It was amazing to see all the emotions, the laughter, the happy tears - all captured beautifully. It's a treasure trove of memories that we'll cherish forever.
And lastly what advice or tips would you give to other couples who are planning their wedding?
Planning a wedding can have its challenges but it is also super fun if you choose to see it in a positive light. During the process focus on what truly matters, communicate openly, be graceful with budget blowouts and don’t be afraid to ask for help from family and friends. Most importantly, enjoy the process! You only get to do this once and it should be a celebration of your love story.
